The First Baptist Church of Rio was organized on August 24, 1884 and presently has more than 2,578 members. It is located at 525 Frei Caneca Street, in an inner city district called Estácio, in Rio de Janeiro City, RJ - Brazil.

The main objectives of the church are the worship of God, evangelism, the teaching of Christian doctrine, the provision of spiritual guideness for its members as well as charity, education, missions and other projects and activities related to the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth. The Holy Bible is acknowledged as the only guide of faith, doctrine, worship, discipline and church policy, and the church follows the Baptist Principles as stated in the Doctrinal Declaration voted by the Brazilian Baptist Convention.
